Stone-coated steel: An alternative to stone, slate or tile roofing
Can you have the aesthetic appeal and durability of a stone roof without the stone? Absolutely.
A Jackson County, Mo., client recently chose stone-coated steel for her roof. What are these tiles made of? A stone finish is permanently adhered to a metal base. It makes an excellent roof for homes that want the look of an earthen surface but are not structurally engineered to support stone, slate or tile. Because it’s engineered and manufactured, there are numerous possibilities for appearance, color and texture. It’s also durable, low maintenance and energy efficient.
This homeowner chose a charcoal finish that is hail and fire resistant and energy efficient. After the previous roof was removed, we applied waterproofing and then adhered 975 stone-coated steel tiles.
